A wide variety of training events are available to schools to participate in this year. 

Pre-booking is essential and the majority of events are free of charge with a few exceptions. 

Bookings are now open and will close at the end of term in December 2018.

Lesson Study Research 

This is training based on a national strategies model that Northern School have been using for the last couple of years.  Essentially it is a peer review model for improving the quality of teaching and learning and is used in conjunction with IRIS.  It will be led by the Heads of School at Northern – Amelia Cripps and Rebecca Fullick.

Using visual Images and concrete apparatus to develop fluency in early number skills – Alison Gibbons 
This will provide some background, practical activities and useful tips to support the use of 10 frames, Dienes and bar models when developing a sense of number.  This is aimed at TAs working with children in KS1 and KS2 who have a less developed sense of number and who often can’t retain number facts.

Intervention Speed Learning event 9am – 10.30am
An introduction to some of the successful intervention programmes used at Whiteley Primary School.  Delegates will be able to choose short sessions from a range of interventions including MY Ty Maths, Literacy Toolbox, Lego Club, Sydney, Precision Teaching, Violet Brand Spelling, shape coding, Nursery Narrative and Trugs.  After the speed learning session there will be a chance to spend more time speaking to TAs in more depth about the interventions.

Philosophy for Children (P4C) Taster Session 

Is your school new to P4C? Are you new to a school already using a P4C approach?  If so, this is the workshop for you. 

P4C is an approach to teaching and learning which encourages children to ponder, puzzle, ask questions and share their thoughts and ideas about important things in life.  This is done within a caring and collaborative classroom community.  This workshop will:
