Middle Leaders Programme (MLP)

Middle Leadership Programme

(in affiliation with QTL)

 

This MLP programme supports aspirant middle leaders to build their skills, confidence and capability to become an effective leader. MLP offers elements of the full NPQML but does not provide access to the range of optional modules.  It is intended to develop high quality Middle Leaders who can establish effective teams and support them towards outstanding learning and teaching.  Participants will also develop a greater understanding of the use of school data to close the gap according to school improvement priorities.

We are delighted to have both experienced Primary & Secondary facilitators delivering this programme.

 

Objectives

Participants will develop a clear understanding of the difference between leadership and management

Identify gaps in pupil achievement and explore strategies to overcome these

Understand how to lead successful change through clarity of vision

Explore models of team development including establishing trust

Understanding the importance of sustaining “self” in order to be an effective leader

 

Commitment

5 face to face sessions with experienced facilitators plus one shorter overview session:

Tuesday 16th January 2018

4:30pm – 5:30pm - overview

Introduction to the programme - a chance for an overview and initial information about the Leadership Challenge Project

 

Monday 29th January 2018

9am – 4pm (lunch provided)

Leading & managing school improvement and developing your ideas for the Project

· Defining leadership & management and exploring behaviours and actions of leaders

· Exploring the gaps, including within-school variation

· Using data to identify gaps in learner outcomes

· The importance of vision and values in school leadership

Tuesday 13th March 2018

· What makes teaching & learning high quality?

· Modelling, monitoring & dialogue: influencing high quality practice

Wednesday 18th April 2018

Leading and sustaining successful change

Outcome

This course is intended to develop high quality Middle Leaders who can establish effective teams and support them towards outstanding learning and teaching.  They will also develop a greater understanding of the use of school data to close the gap according to the school improvement priorities.

 

Cost

£300 per delegate including refreshments for all sessions.  Discounts apply for multiple bookings for this and/or selected other programmes if booked by end of July 2017: 1 delegate £300, 3 delegates £750, 4 delegates £975.  Places are limited.
