Maths Workshops Primary (Years 5 & 6 teachers)

Continuing the use of a concrete, pictorial, abstract approach to teaching maths through mastery

Join these primary collaborative working party meetings:

focus on the four key operations, place value and fractions and support identification of starting points in maths, and planning from where each child is currently working, to ensure their progress.

We warmly welcome a diverse group of Year 5 & 6 teachers:

If you are new to teaching Year 5 or 6, join us to build your confidence in teaching maths. If you have years of successful teaching experience through Years 5 and 6 come and share your experience and gain some alternative approaches.

Join us to work collaboratively to:

Unpick the problematic areas in this challenging teaching stage, using concrete, pictorial and abstract concepts and resources through a mastery approach

Create practical solutions to instantly apply to your teaching to promote mastery in maths and progressing to greater depth

Explore how to use mathematically-rich problems as starting points to adapt and extend

Share successful ideas, models and practice with other teachers
